- **Form:** CH02
- **Revision:** 11/25 Version 7.0

- **Tax Area:** Registration, representation and benefits

CH02 distinguishes the company making the filing from the corporate body acting as its director. The company's own name and number go in section 1; the corporate director's existing name goes in section 2. If that director has changed its name, the replacement belongs in section 4.

### When a corporate director needs CH02

Use CH02 to report a change to an existing corporate director. A new appointment is outside its scope. The November 2025 form, version 7.0, covers name, principal office address and legal details. A corporate secretary's changes use CH04 instead.

Companies House's company-reporting guidance gives a 14-day notification period for director changes. Record the date of the actual change in section 3. If a person is being appointed as secretary as part of the same company reorganisation, that appointment has its own [AP03 filing](https://formspedia.com/uk/ap03/).

### How to complete the company and director fields

The marked first page shows the distinction between the existing register entry and the changed details. Enter the full company name and number as registered, then complete the sections that apply to the corporate director's change.

| Section | Entry | Source of the information |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 1 | Name and number of the company reporting the change. | That company's Companies House record. |
| 2 | Existing corporate body or firm name. | The director entry currently on the register. |
| 3 | Date the details changed. | The effective date of the reported change. |
| 4 | New corporate body or firm name. | The director entity's new name, if changed. |
| 5 | New principal office address. | The corporate director's physical address for document delivery. |
| 6 | Changed legal form, governing law, register and registration number as applicable. | The corporate body's legal and registration details. |
| 7 | Printed name of the person authenticating the filing. | An authorised filer in a capacity listed on the form. |

A principal office address in section 5 will appear on the public record. It must identify a physical location where documents can be delivered. A standalone PO Box, DX number or LP number is not accepted; the form allows a PO Box only when contained within a full address.

### Legal form, governing law and register details

Section 6 keeps the legal form and governing law in separate fields. It also provides space for changes to the register, including the state, and the registration number. If you give register details, the form requires the number in that register as well.

The publication page addresses corporate officers from the European Economic Area. UK companies or LLPs with those officers must provide their name, registered or principal office address, legal form and governing law, plus the register and registration number where applicable. It says this change does not affect companies or LLPs whose corporate officer is a UK-registered limited company.

For a name-only change, the new corporate name belongs in section 4. If the legal form or governing law has also changed, use the corresponding fields in section 6. The instruction above the change sections is to complete the appropriate sections for the details that changed.

### Sending CH02 online or by post

The authentication box takes a printed name rather than a signature. Check the permitted capacities beside section 7. The final checklist identifies the company name and number, change date, relevant new details, physical address and authentication as items to check; Companies House says missing or incorrect information can lead to a form being returned.

The [official CH02 page](https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/change-the-details-of-a-corporate-director-ch02) links to online filing. A company enrolled in PROOF must use that route instead of the paper form. For other postal submissions, the office guidance gives Companies House, Crown Way, Cardiff, CF14 3UZ as the destination for documents from companies registered throughout the UK.

All information on CH02 becomes public, including optional presenter contact information. Use the three-page PDF linked below to see the authentication and final checklist as well as the first-page fields.
