A shareholder sells out, a director with special voting rights steps down, a parent company is restructured away. When someone stops being a person with significant control of a UK company, the register at Companies House has to catch up, and PSC07 is the paper route for that.

Three pages, the last mostly a checklist, issued under section 790LF of the Companies Act 2006 and currently at version 4.0 (November 2025). Companies House has an online service for the same change and says posted paper forms take longer to process.

### Companies only, one person per form

PSC07 is for a company. If the entity is a limited liability partnership, the form to use is LL PSC07 instead. Each PSC07 names a single individual, relevant legal entity (RLE) or other registrable person (ORP). Two shareholders leaving on the same day? Two forms.

There is one more case where the form must not be used at all: when an individual PSC has applied, or is applying, for protection from having their details shown on the public register. Companies House asks you to email secureforms@companieshouse.gov.uk for the right form instead.

### What goes in each section

| Section | What it asks for |
| --- | --- |
| 1 | Company name in full and company number |
| 2 | For an individual: title (optional), forenames and surname, plus month and year of birth if you choose to give them |
| 3 | For an RLE or ORP: its name |
| 4 | The date the person or entity ceased to be a PSC, RLE or ORP |
| 5 | The date the company had confirmation of the change |
| 6 | Authentication: the printed name of the person filing |

Sections 2 and 3 want the details as they currently appear on the public register. If your own records spell a name differently, copy the register. The month and year of birth are voluntary. They help Companies House pick out the right person when names are similar, and anything you enter there goes on the public record.

#### The two dates

Section 4 is the day control actually ended. Section 5 is a different date: the day the company had confirmation both that the person had ceased to be a PSC and of the date written in section 4. The two differ whenever those confirmations arrive after control ended, and if the two confirmations themselves come on different days, the form says to enter the later one.

#### Authentication without a signature

Section 6 asks for a printed name. No signature is needed. The people who can authenticate are a director, the secretary, a person authorised under section 270 or 274 of the Companies Act 2006, administrator, administrative receiver, receiver, receiver manager, charity commission receiver and manager, CIC manager or judicial factor. For a Societas Europaea, you replace "director" with the organ of the SE that the signatory belongs to.

Before sending, the company must have confirmed with the individual that the particulars on the form are correct. The form's own note on this sits next to the authentication box.

### Before it goes to Companies House

- The company name and number match the public register exactly.

- The PSC, RLE or ORP name is entered as it appears on the register.

- Both dates are filled in, and section 5 is the later date if the two confirmations differ.

- The form is authenticated with a printed name.

- It is printed at full size on white A4 paper, as Companies House requires for paper forms.

Forms with missing information may be sent back. Presenter details on page three are optional, but anything you put there is visible to people searching the record.

### Timing, and what happens when a PSC dies

Companies House guidance says changes to PSC information must be reported within 14 days of confirming the change. That 14 days runs from confirmation, which is one reason section 5 exists.

Death is handled differently. Guidance updated on 30 July 2026 says a PSC who has died does not need to complete identity verification, and should stay on the Companies House register until a grant of probate or letters of administration has been received. So the PSC07 for a shareholder who has died waits until one of those documents exists.

### Online or by post

The online service at ewf.companieshouse.gov.uk updates PSC information directly, and Companies House recommends it. Some paper forms can also be sent through the "Upload a document to Companies House" service. For a posted form, PSC07 points you to the Companies House offices page on GOV.UK for the address.

Everything on PSC07 is published, including the presenter details on page 3 if you choose to fill them in.

### Questions

#### Is there a fee for filing PSC07?

PSC07 has no payment section. Its last page says the form itself is supplied free by Companies House.

#### The PSC sold only part of their shares. Is that PSC07?

Only if they no longer meet any of the PSC conditions, such as holding more than 25% of shares or voting rights. If they still qualify but at a different level, that is a change to their details, and PSC07 is the wrong form.
